Cold to Colder 2/3/15 It is 9:31 in the morning, the third of February, 2015, and the temperature is 23°. The citizens of Chicken Town need a little warmth. This morning, when I got up, little drops of golden sun fell through the windows. The wives in Chicken Town were making coffee for their husbands, and the children were just waking up. Nobody hurries, nobody shouts, and nobody lays on the couch. The Puddle Ducks do all of those things. They hurry, they shout, they sit on the couch. "Drake, get out of your den and eat your breakfast! The food is almost frozen!" shouts Jemima. "I'm not hungry." Drake whined. "Drake, come out and eat! Am I clear?!" The Valentine Bear Inside the nursery, everything is stirring. On the outside, not one creature moves, nor a sound is to be heard. Inside, the warm fire crackles, with a delicious smell filling the rooms. "Children!" said Granny with a strong, yet comforting tone. "Today I want to tell you of the Valentine bear. So open your ears, and huddle close together, as I go to the day when Valentine's Day came to be. " Once upon a time, in a town with many old folk, lived a young bear, who longed to play about in the streets. One day, he went into the town, and met with an old man with a cane.
