The Fair Yesterday, all of the chickens in chicken town went to Chicken County fair. There they saw cows, goats, sheep, and bunnies! They didn't have any birds because of the flu that's been going around the poultry pokes. After the animal arena, there were rides. Emma went on the carousel (she rode a chicken) and this was the first year that she could get on and off herself! Some of the chickens went on a huge guitar that went up and down (and some of them got sick). A few of them rode strawberries that twirled around and spun. Tilly said to Adriana, "I will not go on a ride, Ana." Adriana shook her head. Some of them went on gliders. And quite a bit of them rode on a roller coaster (which had a toy alien in the front). A lot of the kids rode on the carousel with Emma. Then they had ice cream. The building was exactly like an ice cream cone. While they ate their ice cream, Emma and her mother had their pictures drawn like cartoon characters. Then there were ga...

Getting Some New Friends Polly, the Napkin Basket Guard has been lonely for the past few days. All she does every day is eat, drink, use the restroom, watch, and sleep. So I, the Queen of Chicken Town has decided that Polly shall have some new friends. A friend here, a friend there, a friend right next to her, and she won't be sad anymore. Two parrots are already planned. There will be Coconut and Tangerine. Polly is almost ready to retire, for she has been working much too hard. I do not believe that we need a Napkin Basket Guard, but I could be wrong. Polly likes her job, and she never wants to leave her post. So, after my royal paper work, I will begin making some new parrot friends.

April 2015

Never to be Found Our friend, Rebecca Puddle Duck has not returned yet. Not a sign, a sound, nor a little path. We are all trying to accept the truth. She is gone. She must be dead, but still she has no grave. Drake is deeply worried about her. "I remember she would always interrupt family discussions with her somewhat adorable little squeak." The little chicks attend to their letters and sounds. Greta, a dear friend of Rebecca's wrote on her  paper, " c a t d o g d u c k" Her book wanted her to write "Robby, Mike, & Me." Instead, she wrote, " R e b e c c a P u d d l e  D u c k"  The teacher glanced over her shoulder. Greta started erasing it right away. Everybody in town is very very very very very sad. Something is wrong in Chicken Town. New Citizens On a beautiful Monday evening, Sally was coming to egg-sit for Frieda, the Norwegian chicken. She was standing beside her, smiling in her usual way. She began to speak, b...

Granny's Story Time

He Died for Us All of the chicks were playing around outside on Easter Sunday.  They were tired after the long church service, although one of the people in church passed out bags of candy. Granny called the kids inside for a snack. Annabelle said, "Granny, can you read us the story of Easter?" "Well," said Granny. "I suppose I could. Benny, could you be a big boy and carry the book over to my chair?" Benny pumped  up his muscles (which you couldn't see) and picked up the book with a mighty face. He walked around with it a little while, and then he fell down on his beak. Everyone except Granny laughed at the poor little cockerel. Granny picked him and the book up, and sat the chick in the circle around her chair. She turned to page 693. She read, "One dreadful day, God's Son, Jesus was captured and taken to prison. Jesus had not done anything wrong. In fact, he was preaching! A man named Judas asked the judge to drop the charges against H...

URGENT NEWS

Runaway Hello there, folks! I'm here to report a runaway duck. This duck's name is Rebbecca Puddle Duck. She is a blue-egg-laying duck. She is a Rouen duck. Mr. Puddle Duck said, "We all are deeply worried about this dear dear friend of ours. She is my friend, and she is very important to me (well, my Jemima means much more to me)." No sign was found of her disappearance. We are all keeping her on our main focus. I, the queen of Chicken Town, am so angry that I can't do anything about it. When we first got them, I told them that I was their mother. The sheriff isn't very much aware of this sudden act, but she knows that something is wrong. We all search the town limits, even look around at the neighbor towns through the fence. Please pray that we find her. She means so much to the town, and it would be empty without her.

March 2015

Spring is Coming! 3/4/15 Betty arrives at the salon. She opens the hairstyle book and opens up the 2015 calender. She turns it to February. Just then, a customer came in. It was Betty Boop! "Hello, Betty dear! Could you give me the French bun hairstyle, please?" she asked. She sat down in the chair, and looked at the calender. "Betty, not to be rude, but your calender is on February." Betty said, "Yes it is, why would it be rude?" "Well, it's March my dear sister." Betty looked at the calender with squinted eyes. "Oh!" she exclaimed. She rushed to the calender and flipped the page over. "March has a pretty picture, doesn't it Betty Boop?" she pointed at a picture of a duck with an umbrella walking down the street. Just then, she saw that scene right outside the window. "My goodness! I must get my Easter decor out! Oh, and my happy spring sign! Oh, I must get the monthly special hairstyle out! Oh there's jus...

Granny's Story Time- March

Robin Hop Inside the nursery, peeps frantically sweep across the rooms. Granny whizzed past them and grabbed her storybook. "Today we will hear a story that  not many know, so sit cozily, and open your earlobes, and listen to this fairytale.    "Once upon a time, a little robin was born in  the winter. She was not allowed to play out in the snow. Her mother cradled her in her arms, and quietly, Robin said,'Mother, I have heard much about spring. I am going to find it. I suppose it's bored and wants to play. Can I try to wake it up?'  Mother said, 'Dear, spring is a thing that you cannot wake. Now go to sleep.' The next morning, Robin went down her tree. She ran quickly across the cold snow, and got back to the sidewalk. She started thinking about how spring played, and she hopped. She hopped and hopped and hopped and hopped. After she hopped many times, she started to see blades of grass, and she started to feel warmer. After so many hops, a butterfly...

February 2015

Cold to Colder 2/3/15 It is 9:31 in the morning, the third of February, 2015, and the temperature is 23°. The citizens of Chicken Town need a little warmth. This morning, when I got up, little drops of golden sun fell through the windows. The wives in Chicken Town were making coffee for their husbands, and the children were just waking up. Nobody hurries, nobody shouts, and nobody lays on the couch. The Puddle Ducks do all of those things. They hurry, they shout, they sit on the couch. "Drake, get out of your den and eat your breakfast! The food is almost frozen!" shouts Jemima. "I'm not hungry." Drake whined. "Drake, come out and eat! Am I clear?!" "Clear as Scotch tape." murmured Drake. Drake came out of his den and shivered. "Dear, turn on the heat now!" Drake ordered Rebbecca. "I-I-I'm t-t-t-too c-c-c-cold." she said softly. The kids had to take the bus to school today, and yesterday. It is cold. A Soapy Mes...

Granny's Story Time; February

The Valentine Bear Inside the nursery, everything is stirring. On the outside, not one creature moves, nor a sound is to be heard. Inside, the warm fire crackles, with a delicious smell filling the rooms. "Children!" said Granny with a strong, yet comforting tone. "Today I want to tell you of the Valentine bear. So open your ears, and huddle close together, as I go to the day when Valentine's Day came to be. " Once upon a time, in a town with many old folk, lived a young bear, who longed to play about in the streets. One day, he went into the town, and met with an old man with a cane. The bear gave him a hug, and the man scolded him. Then the bear came to a woman, and gave her a bouquet of hearts and said, "Happy Valentines Day!" "Tis' no such thing!" She shouted. A little girl running down the street caught sight of the big bear and started to run. The bear scooped her up and hugged her tight. "I love you!" he said. Th...

Granny's Story Time

Frosty the Snowman Peeps come from the nursery everyday. But today, the chicks just sit around and listen to stories and work on their lessons. "Granny, I found an old hat in the street today, and I want to use it to build a snowman!" said Rosie. "Not  today, my dear. It is much to cold. But I know a story about a snowman! " said Granny. "Tell us!" the chicks peeped. "Okay. Let me see here. Aha! Here it is! It's called, 'Frosty the Snowman.'  One day, in Magic Village, some young raccoons wanted something to eat. They found a carrot each. The young raccoons decided to make snowmen. One snowman they put a good spell on. The spell was for him to come to life! He came to life, just as they wished! When the snow started to melt, he ran around, making it snow again. The raccoons called him, 'Frosty.' He liked that name very much. Then some mean weasels started throwing things at him. The raccoons threw snowballs at them, and the ran ...

January 2015!!!!!!!

Welcome the New Year! The wind blowing through town is a chilly force to feel. Up in the trees, the birds sit bundled up in their coats. The frosty air that bites our faces is actually kissing us a Happy New Year. "Hello, New Year! I hoped I would greet you! But I'm afraid this is the last time I'll see you." said Betty. Big Mama says that she should have fewer chickens! Betty Boop feels the same as I do. She wishes that she could go back and start her life over again, and do things better than they were done. She worries about things in bed like me, and she wishes she could sleep! The children are very happy, like usual. Emma got a pottery set from her nephew. She made a pot she named, "Rosebush". It sits on her  mother's desk usually, but sometimes it gets moved around. She was sick on New Years Eve, and she couldn't go to the church's watch hour. They watched movies at the church that night. Emma was disappointed, but she is happy. Everyone...
